Leurs oeuvres conjuguent références à l'art occidental et ré-appropriations de leurs cultures respectives.

"N'Krumah Lawson Daku, photographe passionné d'origine togolaise nous livre dans l'exposition qui lui est dédiée, un panel de photographies noir et blanc sur supports argentiques et numériques. L'exposition Stories est une série de photomontages nourrie des idéologies, de l’irrationalité et de l’espace-temps que nous vivons. Questionnant la capacité et à se souvenir et se projeter, Stories vous plonge dans des univers fictionnels où le bien et le mal n’existent pas, où le vrai et le faux se mêlent pour suggérer une réalité paradoxale et imminente."

Die Augenfabrik est une mise en dialogue de deux séries à la Piscine de Roubaix :
Flashin’ Bamako et Homo Sapiens is not for sale.
Avec près d’une centaine de photographies, cette « fabrique des regards » crée une expérience de l’altérité, artistique et émotionnelle, qui nous dévoile avec simplicité que l’humain est une matière
sensible et précieuse.
Les deux séries présentées dans l’exposition sont deux histoires picturales et adjacentes.
La première, Flashin’ Bamako, est une découverte de Bamako : le flot de la vie bamakoise, ses inconnus dont l’objectif du photographe croise la trajectoire, la douceur de la tabaski, la rudesse de la vie des travailleurs...
La seconde, Homo Sapiens is not for sale interroge : que voyez-vous lorsque seul le visage existe, dans son intégrité et sans artifices ? Que voyez-vous lorsque sont préservées l’écriture de l’âge dans la chair, la topographie du visage, la lumière des regards ?

BOZAR presents, in collaboration with Tour & Taxis, the 9th edition of the Bamako Encounters, with the entire panafrican selection of 281 photographs and 10 videos. On the theme For a sustainable world, this exhibit presents landscapes of the environmental situation on the African continent, with the artists’ poetic gaze revealing a re-enchantment of the world that is necessary for all of us to seek again. A fitting counterpart to BOZAR’s European photography exhibit Sense of Place, the Rencontres highlight the interconnectedness of landscapes in our global world. With an equally diverse regional view of landscapes, this exhibit provocatively reveals some ‘negatives’ of European landscapes, and environmental phenomena of magnitudes uncommon in Europe. Two significant monographic series of the Bamako Encounters are presented at the Royal Museum for Central Africa. BOZAR is proud to support an African initiative that has come to play a major role in the cultural life of Mali and Africa in the last 17 years, contributing towards the establishment of an international image of African photography, and the development of an art market in Africa.

‘Transfert’ is a series of black and white photographs, which presents us with some striking polyptychs of portraits and some urban or natural landscapes, sometimes supplemented by a still life.
Each portrait, each set expression is associated to a specific place that becomes eventually its own natural environment. More than just focusing on the landscape or the place on itself, N’Krumah LAWSON DAKU, chooses instead to only capture the dark and serious atmospheres to write his series in a melancholic universe.
Composed of strong contrasts, flowing perspectives, harmonious compositions, the latter creates new territories here and elsewhere that oscillate between light and darkness, violence and gentleness.
Transfert : Places and faces, space and time.

Mehr als sich nur auf die Landschaft oder das Objekt zu konzentrieren, entscheidet N'Krumah Lawson Daku sich darauf, die dunkle und ernste Atomsphäre in einem melancholischen Universum darzustellen.
Die starken Kontraste, fliessenden Perspektiven und harmonischen Kompositionen erzeugen eine neue Landschaft die oszilliert zwischen Licht und Dunkelheit, Rohheit und Sanftheit.
